Be A Volunteer

Volunteers are vital to the work of The Salvation Army. Your valuable skills and fresh perspective will make a difference in your community. Whether it's helping children with their homework, leading beautification projects, or serving holiday meals to the homeless, the donation of your time is sincerely appreciated. Every day, volunteers can be found working in Salvation Army Food Banks, in our administrative and social services offices, as well as out in the community. We are always looking for people who want to volunteer their skills. We would not be able to accomplish our mission, nor would we be able to touch as many lives as we currently do without our volunteers.

Volunteer opportunities vary according to location and time of year. If you are interested in volunteering, visit our volunteer website or please contact us at Be sure to tell us if you are volunteering as an individual or with a group, and the community you are interested in helping.

You may also send an email to The Salvation Army in Renton directly, to inquire about volunteer opportunities by clicking HERE. Regular mail may be sent to The Salvation Army, Renton Corps Community Center, PO Box 977, Renton, WA 98057

Be A Red Kettle Bellringer

The Salvation Army's red kettles are an important part of Christmas, in keeping with the spirit of the season. For more than 100 years, The Salvation Army has been setting out stands in front of shops and stores across America. The donations collected provide dinners, clothing, and toys for our neighbors in desperate need. For many of our neighbors, it's still a struggle to pay the bills. To meet the rent. To feed their children.

You can help The Salvation Army bring hope to those in need. Every year, we need volunteers to serve as bellringers at our red kettle locations. The Red Kettle Campaign is the only annual fundraiser for The Salvation Army and volunteers help us to cut the operating costs of the program, which means more money goes to doing good in our community. Funds raised during this campaign are used to provide assistance during the holidays but also throughout the rest of the year. 87.4% of dollars collected go directly to client services!

Bell ringing hours vary per location and are available Monday-Saturday. You can volunteer by yourself for part of a shift, or volunteer as a group of friends and family to stand at a kettle location throughout an entire day. For more information about being a bellringer volunteer, please contact your local Salvation Army office at (425) 255-5969. Please Note: we do not ring on Sundays.

Your help is their hope!
